Come Away

  • 23 April 2012

After a busy weekend, it was a blessing to have some time to rest today. I’m battling a cold so the break was especially timely in that regard.

It’s easy to run a hectic schedule and never take time to rest but I remind myself that even Jesus needed time away from the crowds. He needed to be alone with His Father and sometimes He needed to sleep. There are times when we need to be busy doing God’s work but there are also times we need to withdraw into His presence. Often, when I’m taking a break from work, I still spend the time being busy with other things but I pray God will help me to take more time to draw near to Him. I know I need it, and you do too.

“My beloved spoke, and said to me, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, see, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away” (Song of Solomon 2:10-13).
