The Absence of God’s Voice

  • 11 November 2011

“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear:But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2).

Do you ever go through periods of time when you cannot hear God’s voice? You cry out in desperation but all you hear is … silence. When I go through those times, I wonder if He’s not speaking or if I’m not listening. I also wonder if there’s something in my life that is keeping me from hearing His voice. God cannot dwell with sin so, if there is sin in your life, that could explain why you’re not getting an answer.

I know there are times that God’s answers are delayed for other reasons but, right now, I just want to encourage you to search your heart. Ask God to show you anything that is hindering your prayers from getting through. That’s what I’m doing lately. I don’t know if I’m ready to see what He wants me to see but nothing is worth the absence of His presence or His voice. Let’s press on together and fight the good fight. With God’s help, we can overcome!
