A Quick Note

  • Posted on July 30, 2012 at 11:52 pm

Dear Friends, I can’t believe I’ve not posted anything since last Sunday. Time is absolutely flying by. I’ve been busy at work and tired at night, tonight of which is no exception but I at least wanted to let you know I’ve not forgotten y’all. I appreciate each one of you who take the time to read my blog on a regular basis. Don’t give up on me. Keep checking back as I’ve got concert reviews and CD reviews coming up, along with more inspirational writings as God continues to speak to me and help me to grow in Him. May you feel His love each day as you walk by your Savior’s side.

On a side note, I’ve mentioned in the past that I work for Wisdom’s Gate Ministries, a Christian publishing company. Besides publishing books and periodicals, I also have the blessing of traveling with my mom and brother as they travel coast to coast with messages of encouragement. We have an email list where we send out an email or two a month letting people know where we’ll be speaking and also noting any new products, web specials, etc. If you would like to be put on this list, email your name, address and email address to orders@wisgate.com. If we’re in your area, I would love to meet you.

Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day and hopefully I’ll get those reviews up soon.

Revival in the Home

  • Posted on March 20, 2012 at 12:59 am

This past week, I’ve had the privilege of traveling with my brother as he gives his “Revival in the Home” seminar. It’s neat to see the families that come as they realize the need for raising children to love and serve God. A large percentage of youth who are raised in Christian homes lose their faith due, in large part, to the parents not effectively discipling their children. This seminar is a tool God’s using to show parents how to stop this trend. I believe we won’t see Revival in the world until we see Revival in the church but we won’t see Revival in the church until we see Revival in the home.

If you would like my brother, Israel Wayne, to give this seminar to your church, contact me at sony@wisgate.com. A description of the seminar may be found here. You may also be interested in his book, Full-Time Parenting: A Guide to Family-Based Discipleship.

Quick Post

  • Posted on March 7, 2012 at 10:18 pm

I’m leaving in the morning for a conference so I won’t be posting again until Saturday or Sunday. If you’re new to reading my blog, this may be a good time to go back and read previous posts I’ve written. Most of what I write isn’t time sensitive. I pray God will use it to touch your heart. Pray for me, and I’ll pray for you, that God will encourage your heart and continue to draw you closer to Him until you can feel His presence continually.

Book: Letters to Grandma

  • Posted on November 10, 2011 at 11:04 pm

I rarely use this space for “commercialism” but my mom has a new set of books out that I wanted to mention. We’ve gotten some interesting responses when people see the title, Letters to Grandma, but the book is a compilation of letters which our ministry has received and which my mom (Skeet Savage) has answered from a Biblical perspective. Whether you’re dealing with financial stress, marital unfaithfulness, rebellious teenagers, etc., you will find Godly counsel in the pages of these books. If you have questions, these books may contain the answer you seek. If you mentor young ladies, these could be great resources to aid you in giving others the guidance they need.

While you’re at it, check out our other products at Wisdom’s Gate. An Encouraging Word is a quarterly magazine of encouragement for women of all ages. Plus, we have resources on revival, homeschooling, preparing for marriage, family discipleship, etc. A great Christmas gift is Pilgrim’s Progress dramatized on Audio CD.

I hope you all are having a great week. I hope to put up some more reviews and posts on what God’s been teaching me soon. This has been a hectic year but I trust God is continuing to complete the work He’s begun in you like He is in me.

Preparing for National Quartet Convention 2011

  • Posted on September 9, 2011 at 9:14 pm

As I write this, it’s Friday night before the National Quartet Convention. I know there are things I’m forgetting as it gets down to the final day of preparation. The things I remember can be overwhelming but I continue to plug away. I’m very thankful to be able to attend this year and I know God has good things in store.

If you’ve attended NQC before, you know how long the days can be and how tired one can get by mid-week. For me, it doesn’t make it less enjoyable. I hope it never does. At the same time, I also know how easy it is to get so busy at a gospel event that you don’t take time for God and I want to remind you that we need Him ALL the time. Don’t neglect Him in the midst of the busyness. If you don’t have time to connect with Him before you head to the convention, make sure you take some time when you get there. If you’re like me, you’re looking for a blessing at NQC but you also need to be a blessing. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive and you never know who may be looking for a word fitly spoken or a smile to cheer a saddened heart. It may even be someone who doesn’t know the Lord and needs to see Him in you. This may be a vacation (well, for me, a working one) but Jesus is the reason we’re there and He has a purpose for allowing us to be there.

On a personal note, I would love to meet those of you who read my blog regularly. I will be at Booth 304 and, if you get there when I’m not there, they can tell you when I’ll be back. If I remember, we’ll also have samples of our magazines which you can look through. Subscriptions are $10 so, if you like to read and you need encouragement, check those out as well.

Don’t forget to pray for me the next couple days and I’ll see you next week!

A Quick Note

  • Posted on January 26, 2011 at 10:12 pm

I’m just putting up a quick post before I head to bed on the eve of what promises to be a very long day. My brother and I leave early in the morning to head to the cold state of North Dakota where he will be speaking this weekend. Please pray for us as God bring us to mind. I will be back late Sunday night so will more than likely not be able to put up any more posts until Monday. However, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Keep looking up and asking God to show you the many blessings He’s given you. If you’re new to my blog, you may enjoy reading former posts. Just pray God will lead you to the ones that He would like to speak to you through. “Faithful is He that calls you, who also will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

Helping a Friend Get a Job

  • Posted on November 9, 2010 at 11:21 pm

This will be different than anything I’ve ever posted but I have a friend who is trying to get a writing job. Apparently the job is won by votes. I don’t know how many votes she needs but I’m sure she can’t get too many. If you are interested in helping someone be able to reach more people with an encouraging message, please visit here and click “Vote.” You may vote once per day until November 18.

Thank you so much. I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

I’m sorry I have not posted anything for a while. I had planned to cover the National Quartet Convention last week but did not have good internet access so I will plan to post the highlights soon. I’m sure other blogs were able to do live coverage but, if you’re like me, I’m sure you don’t get tired of hearing different perspectives on various aspects. I may not get to this until next week but want you to know I haven’t forgotten and will attempt to do that for you. I hope you all are having a great year. It’s hard to believe it’s already Autumn but I’m thankful that God controls each season. I look forward to seeing what this season holds.

A Gift for You

  • Posted on May 7, 2010 at 11:58 pm

I can’t believe we’re a week into the month of May and I have not yet mentioned my birthday coming up. (At least I don’t think I have.) I’m at the stage of life where I wish I could stay this age forever but, if I’m going to get older, I figure I may as well enjoy it and I do enjoy birthdays. Although not for a little over a week yet, I am already feeling very blessed and I look forward to seeing what else God does this month.

As part of my celebration, I have the opportunity to give you a gift and I would love to do so. I work for a ministry called Wisdom’s Gate which publishes, among other things, three periodicals: The Home School Digest, An Encouraging Word, and Brush Arbor Quarterly. You may have noticed the links here on my site but I never really explained what they are. As my thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I would like to offer you a sample of any or all of the magazines we publish. Take time to check out the websites and determine which ones would be a blessing to you, add it to your shopping cart using promo code sgw, and we will send you a copy free of charge. All three publications are quarterly so it can take 6-8 weeks to get your issue but I pray they will be a blessing to you and will be something you will read over and over again. And if it really blesses you, you can always subscribe. 🙂 I’ve been writing a regular column for An Encouraging Word for several years now and am very grateful to be able to encourage others through my writing.

I hope you’re having a blessed weekend. Stay safe!

Sporadic Posts Possible

My dear friends, first of all, let me take a minute to wish each of you a wonderful week. I am looking forward to some predicted warmth and sunshine. We’ve been getting sun but it’s been a bit cool the past couple days.

Now that the weather is warming up, I will be traveling more due to the ministry I work for. Therefore, I may not have internet every day. I plan to continue updating my blog on the evenings I do have internet but there may be days I’m unable to post. I hope you will bear with me during those times and that you will continue to check my site for the days when I do have a new post up.

My mom, Skeet Savage, is scheduled to speak at a couple ladies events in Lawrenceburg and Goodlettsville, TN. If you are a lady within range, we would love to have you join us for an evening tea with an encouraging message. Email me at sonyelise@gmail.com for more information.

This week, don’t forget to count your blessings. That simple act really does make your trials look small!
